it works but only with obvious hotspots
The radius in which it picks up signals is not that great. You have to be pretty close to pick it up. Turn your laptop and usually you will see a wifi signal when you don't see it on here. Kinda defeats the purpose then.
useful device
I have used this WiFi locator for several weeks now and it has worked well. Visiting an Apple store I showed it to one of the tech guys and he wanted to know where he could buy one. The only place it didn't detect a signal was in a library in a neighboring town where it must have been encrypted for local members with a library card.
